DCMS budget cut by �300 million

DCMS� resource budget will fall from �1.4 billion to �1.1 billion, and its capital spend will be cut from �1.5 billion to �1.3 billion.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Osborne said that this would include cutting administrative costs by 41% over the spending review period, which runs until 2014/15. Nineteen quangos will also be scrapped or reformed.
Osborne said: �All of this is being done so we can limit four year reductions to 15% in core programmes like our national museums, the frontline funding provides to our arts and Sport England�s Whole Sport plans.�
He added that British culture was �one of our country�s greatest economic assets�.
Osborne said there is �ongoing provision� of the London 2012 Olympics� �9.3 billion public funding pot.
