Theatre Awards longlist unveiled

Among those nominated for Best Actor are Adrian Lester for Cat on a Hot
Tin Roof, David Suchet for All My Sons and Roger Allam for Henry IV.
Hollywood stars Keira Knightly and Gemma Arterton made the Best
Actress longlist for The Misanthrope and The Little Dog Laughed, while
Sheridan Smith was also nominated for Legally Blonde.
Potential winners of the Best Play award include Posh and Sucker
Punch, both of which have played at the Royal Court, and The Big Fellah,
which showed at the Lyric Hammersmith.
Hair, Legally Blonde, The Human Comedy, Les Miserables, Sweet Charity and Passion are all up for the Best Musical gong.
Longlists for Best Director, Best Design, Most Promising Playwright and Outstanding Newcomer have also been revealed.
'The choices reflect the explosion of young talent emerging
alongside theatre grandees who are at the top of their game,' the
Evening Standard claimed.
