ABTT 2012 Theatre Show a success: we moved it and bettered it
20th Jun 2012
A record attendance was posted
for the34thABTT Theatre Show on its move to the Old Truman
Breweryvenuein East London.
Over the two days of the event nearly2,000 visited the show - up five per
cent on 2011 - previously itself arecordyear. There had been early
indications that the ABTT Theatre Show's move to theOld
TrumanBrewery would encourage visitors this year, and the final
statisticsindicated the highest attendance ever.Already buoyed by
recordpre-registrations (up 6% on the previous record level), the
organisers weredelighted with the visitor turnout. The show also fully
sold out all exhibitorspace. A number of visitors hadtravelled from
Singapore, Australia, NewZealand and the USA as well as those from all
parts of the UKand Europe.
Running alongside this year's TheatreShow, which included a wide range of
exhibitors, was aprogramme of seminarsand association meetings,
combining to provide a unique visitor experience. Butthere were other
benefits too. One exhibitor commented that many visitorsarrived with
large bags ofshopping - obviously they had discovered the
antiqueclothing emporiums in the 10-minute walk fromLiverpool
Street station to BrickLane!
In response to the impact of the changein venue, Roger Fox, the Theatre
Show's Director said, "Anoverwhelmingmajority of visitors and
exhibitors were very positive, with many exhibitorsrequesting
thesame space for 2013, even though neither the venue nor the
exactdates have been confirmed yet". Hecontinued, "We are all
delighted with thefeedback from exhibitors. Obviously there are things to
improve ifwe are hereagain next year, but they are relatively
minor. We moved it and bettered itagainst the odds. Many of our
exhibitors commented on the diversity and qualityof customers, and
visitors seemed pleasedwith range of new theatre-focusedproducts
and services on show. That's what the ABTT Theatre Show isall about."
