Anne Minors Performance Consultants Limited are devoted to creating the best conditions for making and enjoying performances with all the senses. Since 1996 the practice has been briefing, planning and equipping new performance spaces for the future; working with directors, performers and architects to explore and extend existing spaces and their repertoire; and creating solutions for integrating technology with buildings. AMPC believe in the triumvirate of architect /performance consultant /acoustician to design facilities with excellent acoustics, sightlines and ambience. With every discipline collaborating in the design the level of sophistication of solutions can be high and the architectural expression can be broad.
The work of the practice includes:
- preparing the brief for buildings where people gather
- assessing existing buildings for their suitability as performance venues
- advising on the theatrical planning requirements of backstage and front of house
- advising on the disposition of the audience and the form of the auditorium to achieve good performer/audience relationships
- initiating the stage engineering that will give the required flexibility of space and use
- integrating and detailing the production equipment within the auditorium to give a cohesive design
- advising on the facilities management of the performance spaces
AMPC are performance consultants, not limited to theatre, but acknowledging that dance, music, drama and visual and digital art are often combined in the same presentation. AMPC create concepts for performance from the ingredients unique to each project, its client and its siting. There are no formulaic solutions. AMPC combine the knowledge of 21 years experience in the business with the enthusiasm of a youthful and growing company. Continuity of personnel throughout a project gives a consistency of approach and the carrying through of intent. AMPC are also concerned with how the building and the company prosper post-completion. The creation of a building to enable further artistic endeavour is rewarding in itself, but it is merely the birth of a new era in the companys development. How the company responds to the building and how the building sparks new horizons of creativity is the exciting part.
